Elissa Nesheim is a watercolor landscape painter with her BA in art from Black Hills State University. After growing up on the edge of the Black Hills of South Dakota, where she spent her childhood hiking and exploring the wide open spaces, accumulated memories of landscapes combined with a fascination for creating with watercolor became the life’s work of an artist.
As a self-proclaimed “landscape Alchemist”, Elissa invites you to take another look at landscapes through her lens of distilled emotional connection to location. By combining a minimal, abstracted and dream-like, rendering of the natural world her watercolor landscapes straddle the liminal space between waking and dreaming. conjuring a new idyll from the fusion of personal memory, imagined spaces and emotional energy she creates both the comfort of the familiar and the excitement of a paradise long sought.
